Carmen Watson has been a teacher and administrator in classical Christian schools for 19 years. She received her BA in History and French from Rice University in 2003 and her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Covenant College in 2016. She also received her Master Certification from ACCS in 2022. She has taught classes at every grade level from 6th to 12th and has taught courses in French, history, English, rhetoric, logic, math, and economics. She loves to be a guest speaker in classes from K to 12 on topics ranging from Christmas in Norway to William the Conqueror to World Wars I and II. Administratively, Carmen served as a College Advisor for 10 years, as the Director of Instruction for seven years, and as Upper School Principal for two years. These roles included curriculum editing and oversight, Upper School scheduling, event and extra-curricular planning, teacher mentoring and evaluation, administrative documentation and organization, and coordination of the senior trip to Italy. During these years, Carmen also successfully coordinated her school’s ACCS reaccreditation process three times, the most recent time being Spring 2023, and she has served on four accreditation visit committees to evaluate other schools. Carmen enjoys helping teachers and administrators improve classroom practice and the documentation of their curriculum and other systems. She lives in the Houston, TX area but loves to travel and see the great work happening at classical Christian schools around the country.
