David Goodwin
David Goodwin has served as the president of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS) since 2015. Formerly, he was the head of The Ambrose School, a classical Christian school in Boise, ID, from 2003 through 2014. During this time he oversaw the design and construction of their current facility and grew the school from a fledgling school to over 500 students. He served on the ACCS Board as an elected member from 2010 to 2014, and helped develop the strategic plan for the ACCS. Prior to his work in classical Christian education, Mr. Goodwin spent 13 years in marketing and new business development for a Fortune 100 technology company. Most recently, he coauthored the #1 New York Times bestseller Battle for the American Mind with Pete Hegseth. He holds an MBA and BIS from Boise State University. He and his wife, Stormy, work as a team on many ACCS projects and attend The King’s Congregation in Boise, Idaho. They are the parents of three children, all of whom attend or graduated from The Ambrose School.

My grandson just “completed” 4th grade and we think he has not learned basics in many things. How can he be assessed? How can he be put in a classical education at this point?

I am a retired teacher who has been moved by the audio book which you wrote with Pete Hegseth. I have listened to it a minimum so six times. I also purchased the hardcover. I was feeling led to begin a CCS here in my community. After much prayer and continued thought I can be involved in in the set up and perhaps teach but believe I am better, at this time, at spreading the word. Therefore, I have spoken to the Chairman of our GOP organization in my county and he is willing for me to present to the group. I was overheard by another and he asked me to present at the Kiwanis Club here too. My questions are: provided I given credit and a bibliography am I violating any copyright laws or will I be able to get permission to base my presentation on you book?

To answer your question, to the best of our knowledge you should be fine to give your presentations if you give credit to “Battle for the American Mind” and authors Pete Hegseth and David Goodwin. If you were to use the text of the book word for word in writing or in a speech without providing credit, you would need to pursue more formal permission from Harper Collins.
